Twitter and Twitterific

I have just set up my twitter account and I’m now starting to like twitter. It’s a great way to micro-blog and Iconfactory’s Twitterific work seamlessly with Twitter and integrates really posh in the Toolbar of Mac OS X. View my twitter page here.

After 3 months of working with a mac

I promised you to give a full review after some time of how I like working with a mac.
As you probably know, I was a Windows user for more than 5 years. 3 months ago, I switched to the mac. First of all: Why? I normally pray: Never change a running system. But the question is, was my windows system running? Yes, it was. But how? I can just say that the windows does everything a mac does, but the mac does it a lot better. All the behavior is just different, and in my eyes just better and well thought-out. Many people ask me, if it was difficult to switch from a pc to a mac. For sure, you need some time to get everything known, but after a few weeks I was actually asking myself: Why didn’t I switch a lot earlier, or: How did I ever live without a mac? And as I hear, many other people tell me the same. But what’s it really, that makes a macintosh different? Well, it’s how everything works. You don’t have to install hundreds of freeware software, antivirus software, software to do this, software to do that. All you need to have on a computer, except for the specialized software is already on it. Basically, the only software package that I installed, beside iLife and iWork was the Adobe CreativeSuite3, a coding software and Skype. One thing about Windows Vista that I really don’t like, in comparison to the mac, is that the operating system sometimes gets more attention than the application you are currently working in. Vista is full packed with graphical stuff and effects that are maybe nice, but in the length of time they all really distract you from work. The mac just works. No speed problems at all. I am really happy with my mac, also after around three months of working with it.

Just updated to the latest version of Wordpress

I have just installed the update of wordpres, it’s version 2.5.1. I really enjoy the new look and feel of the admin area, which got a fully redesigned user-interface. Many things are far more logical and well tought-out. I also like the new “Add media” buttons on the top of the “Write” page. I would recommend everyone who is using wordpress to upgrade to the new version.

The swiss-army knife for web developers

I recently installed the Firebug plugin for Firefox on my mac. This is the only real tool to inspect and debug HTML and CSS code. I really enjoy the functionality to use the inspect tool to hover over a specific part, change the HTML or the CSS and instantly see the results - live. Thats really revolutionary. I use Firebug every day to code debug my code and I can recommend for all webdesigner and developers. Whether you deal with HTML, CSS or write PHP or JavaScript code; Firebug just appears on the bottom of your browser window and helps you build up, inspect, analyze and debug the code you’ve written. Another great tool is the Web-Developer Toolbar written by Chris Pederick, also a very functional and handy tool. Both are Firefox plugins.
